Welcome to Introduction of New and Underutilized Vaccines
This set of e-learning modules will help senior managers learn about new and underutilized childhood vaccines and the diseases they prevent. In these e-learning modules, you will learn:
  • whether your immunization programme would benefit from adding a new vaccine; and
  • how to introduce a vaccine and manage your programme once the vaccine has been added to your schedule.

The e-learning course currently contains modules on vaccines for hepatitis B and Japanese encephalitis. We plan to launch modules covering vaccines for rotavirus, yellow fever, and Haemophilus influenzae type b in the near future.

Each vaccine-specific module has a resource section providing quick access to information for further study online, in print, and on CD-ROM. Throughout each module, you will find quizzes and evaluation tools designed to test your knowledge and help you determine which options your programme may find worthwhile to pursue.

This e-learning tool is designed to give senior managers maximum flexibility to learn at their own pace, in their own style, and at their own convenience. E-learning is most effective, however, when combined with other learning methods such as face-to-face sessions and direct follow-up. Facilitator guides on how to design and conduct face-to-face sessions and how to introduce each e-learning module are available. Most often, face-to-face sessions can be conducted with senior managers from different countries or regions, which also allows for the sharing of experiences among different countries.
