Monitoring the impact of your programme
After you have implemented an immunization programme, it is important to monitor its outcome both in terms of service delivery (immunization coverage) and impact (disease incidence). The reasons for doing this are to:
  • ensure implementation problems are detected and addressed,
  • identify problems with vaccine effectiveness,
  • identify areas of weak performance and specific regions where further input may be needed; and
  • collect information demonstrating successes that can be used in advocacy to ensure long-term sustainability of the programme.
In this section you will learn how to:
  • monitor your JE immunization programme through immunization coverage; and
  • evaluate the impact of your JE immunization programme through monitoring disease incidence.
