Assessing disease burden: Data for decision making
JE

This section explains ways you can collect data to estimate the burden of JE disease to determine whether JE is a public health problem in your area. It also outlines how data can be used to aid the control of JE. At the end of this section, you will be able to:

  • determine if JE is a public health problem in your country,
  • identify what type of data you need to make this determination, and where to find it,
  • collect surveillance data,
  • calculate incidence of disease,
  • map data to identify high risk areas; and
  • use data and other sources of information for decision making.
