Welcome to Immunization Financing

This e-learning module is designed to teach senior immunization managers the financial planning and budgeting skills that will help their programmes reach their goals and remain successful. Among the topics covered are:

  • how to write a financial plan,
  • how to develop an annual budget; and
  • how to use financial and economic analyses to improve programme efficiency.

The module is divided into six sections, containing chapters. The sections cover:

  • basics of immunization financing,
  • the market for vaccines,
  • cost analyses,
  • budgeting,
  • financing; and
  • new strategies for funding programmes.

You will find more information on each of these topics in the appendix at the end of each section. Throughout the module, you will find quizzes and evaluation tools designed to test your knowledge and help you get started with financial planning. The resources section provides quick access to more financial planning information online, in print and on CD-ROM.

This e-learning tool is designed to give senior managers maximum flexibility to learn at their own pace, style and according to time availability. However, e-learning is most effective when combined with other learning methods such as face-to-face sessions and direct follow-up. Facilitator guides are available on how to design and conduct face-to-face sessions on immunization financing topics and introduce this e-learning tool. Most often, face-to-face sessions can be conducted with senior managers from different countries or a region, which also allows for the sharing of experiences among different countries.
